Yummy Yummy get in my Tummy!

Yesterday we went to Orange Leaf, it is a self serve frozen yogurt place right down the street from our house. Might not have been the best idea......we are hooked. As soon as we got back in the car we were talking about what we were getting next time. And I don't think "next time" is going to be to far into the future. It was yummy and we all had a wonderful time.

We let Landon make her own, guess which one is hers:

Wheels Off!!

This last week and a half has been wild to say the least! We had company of friends and family stay at our house and share in our lives every day. This is not normal for us at all. We are normally pretty boring and don't do a whole lot, but last week it was the opposite. We were going going going.

It all started Friday, my mom came and spent the morning with us. It was a fun afternoon. Lots of time spent on the swing set :)
Then that night Mandi's parents flew in. Landon stayed up till 10:30 and hid in their bed when they walked it. What a welcome! She was so tickled she couldn't stop running and screaming and jumping and hugging. It was greatness.
The next week was wild. First off it was awesome because Mandi took off work all week so we got to spend a ton of time together, those times are always blessings. Then it was full on grandparent time. The zoo, Chuck-e-cheese, dinners, ice cream, story times, and lots and lots of hugs and kisses. Lillian will now tell you without hesitation that she is "Pop's girl." Want to see a grown man melt?
We dropped Pops and LouLou off at Mandi's brother's house on Thursday and went straight from there to the airport where we picked up Landon's new best friend, Jo. Forget the fact that she is really Mandi's friend and flew in to spend the weekend with her, her and Landon are buds, no doubt. Lillian likes a good Jo hug also :) The girls spent the weekend sharing some good ol girl time, I worked.
The common denominators in all of this:
Little sleep
Lots of stories
Playing hard
Loving fully
It was a great week!

We had a wonderful time.

Pure Excitement

Why does this excite me?

Maybe it's because of the dramatic music.

Maybe it's because of the bright colors.

Maybe it's because I have taught the Elevate curriculum in a classroom to preschool kids.

Maybe it's because when I see this map and the series on it all I can think about is the life change that will happen over the course of the next year.

It is because I know if parents will make the commitment to bring their children to experience the biblical teaching that will accompany this map there will be a supernatural change that will occur.

It is because I wholeheartedly believe that if we can impact this generation of kids with the love of God we will see the world change!

Check out Pastor Mike's blog, it is awesome.

Yin and Yang

These two images would make perfect bookends to the season. The nation watched as 1 stadium was imploded before the season, now it would be awesome if they could watch America's team lift the Lombardi in their new home.

Green Jacket

On Friday I blogged about Phil Mickelson. I asked myself the question if I would take his crazy tan line to have his golf skill.

On Sunday he won The Masters. So to answer my previous question, YES!

Not only does he have a cool new green jacket, he also has $1,350,000.00 to go along with it. And for that kind of money I would have just about any kind of tan line out there.

Golf

I would love to have some golf skills like Phil Mickelson.

But I have to wonder, would I still want to possess those skills if I had to walk around with that crazy tan line that cuts his face in half.

Fingers Crossed

I am really hoping that this is what my backyard looks like tomorrow afternoon:
I will post a pic of our actual backyard tomorrow. Hopefully it isn't a pile of boards with a hammer sitting on top of it.

Another 1 Bites the Dust

If your keeping score, that is #4.
Yesterday I had a conversation with my grandfather regarding the Ipad. He said that since he is such an avid reader that he is going to get an Ipad to read and surf the web. I'm thinking I may be close to needing 1 also. Maybe for my birthday.....

Laundry

While doing laundry this morning 2 things hit me:
1. You know you live in Texas when you wash one hamper of clothes and the top is shorts and the bottom there are sweat shirts.
2. You are never 100% caught up on laundry unless everyone in your house is running around naked. Because if you are wearing clothes, those are dirty now and you will have to wash them.
That one made me giggle (I know, I am still a kid)

Dishes: I can't think of anything about dishes that make me giggle.

Whats that Purple Duct Tape Doing There?

Wow. Funny you should ask about the purple duct tape that is on one of my newly laid tiles. I didn't think anyone had seen it. But since you asked, here is the story:
It's a funny story. Well if by funny you mean that the only option we have is to laugh. You know sometimes when a situation is overwhelming and the only thing you can do is step back and laugh. Well that is where I am right now. Its a little sad, a little overwhelming, a little disheartening, a small kick in the gut, and a touch funny.
Yesterday we got the electricity running to our stove fixed. It only cost $200. Funny? NOPE!
And after he fixed that he told me we didn't have a surge protector on our breaker box. Funny? NOPE! He tried to sell us a $1200 one, we respectfully declined that offer.
Then when he was walking around the corner. Snap. Tile cracked. Funny? NOPE!
That exposed a super sharp edge. One just right for cutting tiny toes rounding that corner. Funny? NOPE!
So I had a temporary fix for that, purple duct tape. Sharp edge eliminated. Crack underneath still there :(
So I am now going to have to dig that tile out and replace it. Funny? NOPE!
And of course it is one that has to be cut. So I need a wet saw again. Funny now? NOPE!
So come to think of it, the situation isn't funny at all. It is actually traumatic.
But all we can do is laugh and take it in stride.
